5j Barrow has grown by leaps and bounds since its inception two years ago, from a duo playing coffee shops to a 6-piece band tearing it up at NYC venues like: Rockwood Music Hall Stage 1&2, The Bitter End, The Living Room, Fontana’s, and Bowery Electric. As our band has grown, so have our ambitions and with that a few key things that we need to get done before we can take on the world. That’s where you guys come in!
First, we need an album. We have an EP that we recorded a year or so ago, and while we’re very proud of those songs we didn’t have the full band assembled when it was recorded. So this past summer and fall we went to Four Legs Records to put together our debut album as a full band. Our mission for this record was to be as creative as we possibly could be with recording approaches both instrumentally and vocally. To find a way to transfer the energy we bring in our live shows and package it in a way that could be exciting for both you, our friends who’ve been so supportive in this journey, and for those out there that have yet to experience us live. The mission was a success! Even though the album is still yet to be mixed and mastered, from what we’ve heard of the rough recordings we believe that it truly represents everything we are as a band. Our longing to be honest, to be thought provoking, and to be just flat out a joy to listen to. It’s all there. We cannot wait to share it with you!
Secondly, we need to go out on tour and bring our music to you! 5j Barrow’s live show has always been our greatest asset, so our plan to help promote the album is to put together an east coast tour in the late spring/early summer and do what we do best, play shows! If you’ve been dying to catch a 5j Barrow show but haven’t been able to make it to NYC, here’s your chance friends!
Obviously these goals will require some serious funds. Recording, mixing/mastering, renting a van, hotels, gas, these are all considerable costs that we’ll need to cover in order to get our music into as many ears as possible. It’s a high bar to clear, but we’re confident that with your help we’ll be able to take this band to the next level and continue creating and performing music that is passionate, creative, and inspiring.-

P.S. We should mention that if we do manage to make it past our 10K goal with enough time to spare, there’s an extra special flex goal we’d love to reach. A few months back we were approached by Effective Immediately PR, a professional publicity firm based here in NYC. We’ve been keeping in touch and they’d very much like to work with us, so if we manage to raise an additional $2K above our goal we can afford to hire them to help us promote our album release tour! Which would be HUGE. Promotion is a big part of ensuring a successful tour and having a professional publicity firm on our side would be an immense asset.
